Tomorrow, Saturday, March 31st Georgia Tech is hosting their 9th Annual Georgia Tech Auto Show. Although most of the cars will be owned by the alumni, staff, faculty, alumni, and sponsors of Georgia Tech, FANS of Georgia Tech are also invited to display a car.

So, if you can say with ANY credibility that you have ever rooted for a Georgia Tech ( even secretly ) then bring your car/motorcycle out! You can register as a FAN on the website

http://www.GaTechAutoShow.com

Cars and motorcycles should arrive at 10am, not before! If you arrive earlier, then you will be asked to park in the parking deck.

At 2pm, Micky Bly, who is one of the leaders of the Chevy Volt program ( and a Georgia Tech graduate ) will be giving a presentation in a nearby auditorium, just before awards are given out to speical cars. This will be an interesting talk about the challenges of designing, building, and marketing this vehicle.

There is NO cost to display a car, or attend as a spectator. If you know of high school students who may want to attend Georgia Tech, then please bring them to the show and the presentation at 2pm. The suggested donation is just a suggestion, and we do appreciate how generous so many people are. But a donation is NOT required.

If you cant get registered, just come anyway and we will TRY to find a space for you.

REMINDER: Skip Barber Racing School TRACK DAY!

Hey everybody, Skip Barber Racing School here! Met a lot of you at the last show in early March and we talked about all of our offerings including the upcoming track day! Here's the details, I'm looking in the system now and we still have some spots open.

To register call Jeff Lail at 678-828-2024, he's our series advisor for this area.

Skip Barber Racing School is having a track day on April 1, 2012 at the Road Atlanta facility. The gates open at 7:00 am and the event will run until 5:00 PM. All of the Skip Barber Racing School Instructors are currently licensed professionals racing in series’ ranging from SCCA PRO to ALMS and Rolex Series. These instructors are flown in for every Skip Barber race event and now are also associated with our track day! Many of you may remember Panoz Track Days from way back when. Well, we absorbed that piece of Panoz (Racing School) and we're beginning to see if the interest is out there for more days like this event. Pass it around, tell your friends. With this kind of professional instruction/feedback and at this price for a full day on Road Atlanta, you really can't beat it. We're REALLY excited to get this going.

More information here: CLICK HERE

Prices are as follows:Beginner: $400.00
Intermediate: $350.00
Advanced: $350.00
Private Lead/Follow Sessions (Intermediate/Advanced) with SBRS Instructors: $125.00
Each group gets alternating 30 minute sessions throughout the day on track at Road Atlanta, which works out to around 3 hours of track time!

Beginner is lead/follow sessions and is slightly elevated because of the added value of so much private time with the instructors. During Intermediate and Advanced our instructors are taking notes on a turn by turn basis for every car on-track and will be rotating from corner observation to paddock review of the drivers from the last session. This is going to be a huge advantage for drivers, not only to learn their own cars on a world class racetrack, but to also get feedback from professionals after every session in a personalized fashion.

Again, to register call Jeff Lail at 678-828-2024 and he will get you all set. Hope to see you there.

We also have PLENTY of room if any of you wanted to come up after Caffeine and Octane this Sunday just to hang out and watch!

March 4th is approaching and hopefully more of the great weather we've been having will make it to the show. We've got 2 new sponsors. Coming on board. The Sports Car Club of America will be joining C&O and covering our insurance. Many thanks to them. Be sure to check them out. They offer many ways to really enjoy your car without the expensive and inconvenient consequences of fines and lawyers.
Also coming to our event will be the Skip Barber Racing school. For the few of you that aren't familiar with them they are the preeminent race and driving school in the US. They were based for many years at Lime Rock Park in Conneticutt. Recently they moved to Road Atlanta. I took thier 3 day school back in 2001 and can attest to the attention to thier detail and professionalism, plus it was a LOT of fun! If you want to get the most out of your vehicle it's $$ well spent.
Let's all hope for sunny 65 degree day and the biggest turnout yet for our new venue.

I build custom muscle car consoles.

After I built a console for my personal muscle car I have had numerous positive comments and interest from other car enthusiasts for me to build one for their car.

I try to keep them rather simple and tasteful without a lot of over the top customizing so they are geared more towards stock and semi modified vehicles.

I make a cardboard mock up for each vehicle or make it using the mock up you make yourself.

Then I transfer the patterns to 1/2" furniture grade, sand able plywood, cut them out, glue and screw them together, and farm it out to my upholstery guy down the street.

The end results are killer and the possibilities are endless.

It takes me sometimes 35 hours labor to make one from scratch and I can't charge by the hour but by the result just to keep the price reasonable.

Most customs consoles sell for over a thousand bucks but I can do it for roughly half of that.

I have shipped a couple of them out of state to different enthusiast forum members where they were not sure of shifter placement and such due to not knowing exactly where they were going to mount their cheetah shifter, window switches, cup holders, vents, pockets, lights, etc.....so in these situations it is better for me to ship it assembled with hinged console attached and not upholstered.
In this instance I also ship them assembled with screws and no glue that way the top plate near the shifter can be taken off easily, holes cut after fitment then glued by owner and assemble easily by putting the screws back in.

Here is the write up that sparked my first two out of state customers.
